The technology world was stunned to see the first 4K smartphone – The Sony’s Xperia Z5 Premium. The Xperia Z5 Premium is one of the trio that was announced by Sony in the IFA 2015. Others in the Xperia Z5 range include the Sony Xperia Z5 and the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact. Here’s all we know about the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium.
SONY XPERIA Z5 PREMIUM REVIEW: RELEASE DATE AND PRICE
The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium would be available starting from November even though the regular Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact model have been available since October.
SONY XPERIA Z5 PREMIUM REVIEW: DESIGN
The Sony XPeria Z5 Premium has a shiny mirrored finish and is the largest of the three phones in the Xperia Z5 range. The Z5 Premium will be available in Chrome, Gold and Black options.
Apart from the shiny finish, the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has the same design features as its brothers in the Z5 range. This means its waterproof with only a flap to cover the slot which houses the SIM-card and Micro-SD.
The flat fingerprint sensor inbuilt power button is also characterized by the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium. The placement on the phone makes it really outstanding since it lies exactly where the thumb normally sits on the phone.
The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has a thickness of 7.8mm and is a slightly thicker than the regular Xperia Z5 and weighs 180g.
SONY XPERIA Z5 PREMIUM REVIEW: HARDWARE AND SPECS
The 4K screen seems most likely to be the most exciting part of the Sony Xperia Z5 specs. Sony made a quantum jump and skipped the Quad HD display entirely and instead offered us a resolution which many people have not yet seen on their television or computer monitor yet – the 4K screen.
Offering a 2160×3840 resolution, the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has a 5.5in display and a pixel density of 806ppi. Apart from the 4K screen, is there any reason to pick the Xperia Z5 Premium over other models in the Z5 range?
The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage and a Micro-SD card slot that supports up to 200GB.
The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium also has the 23MP sensor camera which auto-focuses at 0.03 seconds and zooms digitally up to x5 without a loss of quality and also has the best low light performance.
The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has a larger battery – 3430mAh capacity compared to 2900mAh on the regular Z5 model. The extra battery capacity might not necessarily mean an extra battery life as the 4K display screen might just be a battery sucker. Sony claims the Xperia Z5 Premium has up to two days battery life like the other phones in the Xperia Z5 range.
