Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Review: Specs, Features and Design

To end the long wait, Samsung Galaxy Note 5 has finally been released. The Android phablet was released together with the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Samsung Pay.  As usual, it comes with a stylus – which Samsung says makes it suitable for productivity tasks. This time around, the phone has metal edges and a glass back to give it a more “premium” feel.

The device which was launched on AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint and US Cellular on 21st August, 2015 is only available in the United States of America. It supports Samsung Pay, which works with both tap-and-go and magnetic stripe payment terminals.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 has a Super AMOLED 1440 x 2560 Pixels touchscreen protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 with PayPal certified Fingerprint sensor. It runs Android OS, v5.1.1 (Lollipop) on an Exynos 7420 chipset with a Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53/Quad-core 2.1 GHz Cortex-A57 processor and Mali-T760MP8 GPU.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 has 4 GB RAM, 32/64GB internal memory options available but the memory card slot had to go. It has a 16 MP rear camera, 5312 x 2988 pixels and has optical image stabilization, autofocus and LED flash while its front camera is 5 MP, its video recording quality is 2160p. A button in its camera app activates a “live broadcast” mode, which streams 1080p high definition video to YouTube and sends invitations to selected acquaintances.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 supports the Ultra-High Quality Audio (UHQA) format and has a new hardware component which causes “less sound distortion” when files saved in the codec are played.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is available in Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, Silver Titan and White Pearl colours and supports 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Hotspot and Bluetooth v4.2 connectivity.  It also supports Wireless charging and has a Non-removable Li-Po 3000 mAh battery and.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 costs $250 through a two-year contract in the US and as low as $696 at full retail price through Verizon.
