How To Use WhatsApp Web on PC- Popular mobile messaging service WhatsApp is now available on the PC using a web browser. Its sudden arrival was announced on Facebook.
‘WhatsApp Web’ as it is called currently only works in Google Chrome on Windows, Mac, Linux and Chrome OS. Support for more browsers would be available soon.
However, it is important to note that ‘WhatsApp web’ is an extension of the regular mobile experience and not a replacement for it, the web browser mirrors conversations and messages from your mobile device. You’ll still need the official mobile app installed on your phone to make use of the ‘WhatsApp web’. Your phone also needs to be connected to the internet for the web client to work; that means if your phone’s battery runs out in the middle of a conversation, so will your chance to reply.
To sign in to WhatsApp web:
- Open a new tab in google chrome
- Go to WhatsApp website
- Scan the QR code that appears on screen in the WhatsApp app on mobile
- You’re in!
The WhatsApp web includes features such as sending attachments, taking photos via webcam, recording short voice clips and sending emojis. Desktop notification centre can also be turned on so that alerts of new messages arrive using the Chrome Notification Centre.
